Scientific Symposium

The second SASME2023 will have comprehensive discussions on microbial ecology research, outcomes, opportunities and challenges focusing on but not limited to thematic areas of the symposium. Keynote lectures and invited talks will be delivered by distinguished researchers and professors advancing the knowledge and approaches of microbial ecology which is expected to inspire researchers of South Asia. Oral and poster presentations are invited from researchers and students. 

Side Events

Along with main programs, the SASME 2023 will offer the following side events-

i. Pre-symposium Workshop on Advanced Methods in Microbial Ecology
This hands-on training cum workshop will focus on Advanced laboratory methods and bioinformatics techniques in microbial ecology for early career researchers and Ph.D., Master, and Undergraduate students.

ii. Panel discussion Career Round Table on Microbial Ecology
A round table discussion on opportunities, challenges, and career prospects in microbial ecology will be organized for early-career researchers and students. Senior and renowned researchers are going to share their experiences and guide young microbiologists.

iii. Scientific Writing: How to Publish High Impact Journal Articles
Journal editors and/or senior researchers are invited to guide early career researchers and students about standard scientific writing and publication in high-impact journals. 

iv. Women in Microbial Ecology
Women microbial ecologists from this region and abroad will share their stories and scientific achievements. This session will advocate gender equity in science to inspire young women researchers in this region.

v. ISME Ambassador Network Meeting
A networking meeting among ISME ambassadors in the South Asia, prospective representatives from where there are no ISME ambassadors, and ISME international board members will be organized. The meeting will discuss the current status, plan future activities of the network, and publicity of ISME in this region.
