The second South Asian Symposium on Microbial Ecology, 2023 (SASME 2023), organized by Microbial Ecology Network – Nepal and Tribhuvan University in Kathmandu, Nepal, on November 1-3, 2023, is a significant platform in South Asia for sharing recent Microbial Ecology research advancements in a broad perspective. This symposium is expected to bring senior, mid-, and early career Microbial ecologists and students together in one platform to cherish research outcomes. Among our objectives, the promotion of early career researchers and young students building their research capacity and celebrate the achievements of under-represented researchers, including women scientists in the field. The program includes scientific symposia, student and early career researchers-focused workshops, panel discussions on achievements and issues of women microbial ecologists, and many more.
Approximately 200 prospective participants, majorly from South Asia and also from throughout the world. The majority (but will not be limited to) of prospective participants include-
– Early and mid-career microbial ecologists/microbiologists
– Masters, Ph.D., and Postdoc students
– Academia/ Industries /Researcher
However, we aim to focus a huge number of participants from Nepal, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka and representative participation from Maldives, Bhutan, and Afghanistan.
The symposium focuses on broader participation with balanced proportions from the countries, gender, and other categories. We expect the highest participation from Nepal, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka and representative participation from Maldives, Bhutan, and Afghanistan.
However, we will also encourage participation from other Asian countries, including those from South, southeast, central, and West Asia.
